Wirksworth U3A Pickleball group

This is a new group for beginners or less experienced players.

Wednesday 17.30 - 18.30 and Saturday 9.30 - 10.30 at Wirksworth Leisure Centre. Spaces are limited and venue is sometimes not available so please contact the coordinator before your first visit. 

Pickleball is very popular as a gentler alternative to tennis and badminton, an underarm game on a badminton court, the net is lowered by half and the pickle bat resembles a large tennis table bat! The balls are plastic with holes in them. It can be a fast game, it is fun. The rules are somewhat different from tennis and badminton.

We would set up a what’s app group for you to join so that you can arrange games with others to suit your own busy lives.

The Wirksworth Leisure Centre has courts available on weekday evenings which cost senior citizens £10 for an hour. At weekends any member of Arc Leisure can book the court free, and as I am a member and happy to book a court on behalf of others whenever possible.

The Wirksworth Leisure Centre is interested in promoting pickleball and will be setting up a pay as you go session too, but details have yet to be finalised as at July 2024.
