Wirksworth and District U3A Canasta Group

We meet twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month. The sessions start at 6pm with supper, which is provided by the members in

turn, featuring early in the evening. The session usually finishes at 10pm.

Canasta is a game of the rummy family where only the numbers, not the suits, are important. There are several different versions, which have arisen in different countries and are adjusted for our needs, depending on how many players we have on the night so nobody has to sit out. The game can be played both in pairs or individually so any number of players can be accommodated, splitting into groups if necessary. We also play Samba, which uses 3 packs of cards and suit sequences as well as numbers.
